The article is devoted to the early period of orientalist M.S. Andreyev`s activity when the future scientist made his first steps in science. The author of the article deals only with that period of the scholar`s activities which refers to the time of his work in Khudjand. It is that period when M.S. Andreyev published his first works. N. Ikromov marks that though those works were of a somewhat generalizing and perfunctory character they demonstrate an obvious interest in cultural heritage of Tajiks which became a determinant at the following stages of scientific activity of the mature and recognized scientist M.S. Andreyev transformed into
