The author of the article has examined the main tendencies of Kyrgyzstan journalism development, Kyrgiz broadcasting, in particular, for the period appertaining to the dawn of state independence. She singles out the stages of radio development in the time of the 1990-ies – the beginning of the 2000-ies; this span being a crucial moment in the evolution of Kyrgyz mass media, radio inclusive. In the unstable social-political situation of those years “Kyrgyz Radiosu” station was subjected to multigraded restructurization having been included into the State teleradiocorporation which started to be called later as Social tele-broad-casting corporation. It is underscored that it was the time of utterly newly-formed MM and partial or complete transformation of those already existing ones; the fact being beset both with social-political changes and those ones which were connected with the new needs of the audience itself, as the latter demanded a more opened accessibility to the very information.
