The authors conducted a correlative analysis of musical terminology in Tajik and Russian in pursuance with the token “titles of musical ensembles”. They carried out a musical classification of indicated musical terms. It is asserted that polysemic words (quartet, quintet, octet) make up almost a fourth part of the terms referring to the thematic class “titles of musical ensembles” both in Russian and Tajik. It is proved that in the Tajik language the equivalents of the lexico-semantic group “titles of the types of ensembles according to the number of performers” are borrowed through Russian. As we speak about pure borrowings (not only on a lexical level, but on a semantic either), it is confirmed that in the Tajik language the terms are reclaimed completely and lexico-semantic groups in both languages are identical. The conclusion is made that multicomponental designations of the Russian language in Tajik are also expressed by complex terms. However, there are cases when two-componential word-combinations in Russian correspond to nominations of much more compound structure in Tajik.
