Abstract

The given article dwells on the comparative analysis of negative conjunctions in English and Tajik languages. Among the conjunctions of English and Tajik languages, a number of coordinative and adversative ones, having a negative connotation, express adversarial relations in a sentence. The research showed that the position of each conjunction in sentences of the compared languages is semantically firm and place changing of the conjunctions contribute to a change in relations between the connecting sentences. In the Tajik language, conjunctions вагарна, бошад, набошад are also used, they serve to establish opposite relations between simple sentences in complex adversative sentences. The analysis of examples collected from factual material shows that the number of negative conjunctions in the Tajik language is more than in English, and they are more productive. The most productive conjunctions with negative shade in the compared languages are but (49%) аммо, вале, лекин (52%) and neither ... nor (20%) - нана(22 %).
