It is determined that the conceptual meaning in the semantic content of words and phraseological units of the language is the main and fundamental meaning, and other meanings are directly or indirectly derived from it. Especially in phraseological units, conceptual meaning is clearly expressed on the basis of the figurative expression of objects and events on the basis of which emotional, figurative, evaluative and other shades are expressed. It turned out that imagery, as an important means of expressing meaning, plays a key role in manifestation of conceptual meanings of phraseological units with other semantic connotations. The role of the simile means of artistic description, such as metaphor, hyperbole, irony and epithet, is also significant in expressing conceptual meaning in phraseological units. They, too, in the context of their semantic functions, often confuse conceptual meaning with other semantic moments.
