It is common knowledge that in early centuries of the first millennium A.D there were two states which governed in the east of the Mediterranian coastal territory and in the Middle East - those ones of the Roman empire and the empire of the Sasanids. Before Ardashir Babakan's accession to the throne the Roman empire enjoyed a domineering sway over the spaces mentioned. The change in a balance of forces to a certain extent takes place at the very beginning of Ardashir Babakan's ascension at the start of the III-d century and his final root striking in the year of 224. New turns appear on the horizon with armed collisions between Rome and Iran.
Greek historians of the end of the II-nd and the beginning of the III-d centuries Cassius Dion and Herodian provide terse, but adequately truthful data concerning the collisions in question; the facts having been confirmed or reexpounded in later Greek, Syrian, Armenian sources; in the course of historic time the formers were registered in Arabian - Moslemic origins, particularly in "Shakh-Name". The written monuments preserved the image of Ardashir Babakan as brave man, talented military leader and tsar of tsars who intended to create a majestic state.
