This article examines current issues in the theory of development trends and factors hindering the development of the information society. The author offers a definition of the concept of "information society" in the context of information and communication technologies. At the same time, the essence of the concept of the “information revolution” is revealed and the introduction of artificial intelligence into the field of media and journalism is explained. It traces the evolution of the information society from the invention of writing to the advent of artificial intelligence (AI), and highlights the key role of new technologies in fundamentally changing the field of journalism. It is noted that in the information society, the media can remain resilient to modern challenges only through adaptation to the digital environment and responsible use of information.
