Abstract

Persian-Tajik lexicography, the XI-th – the XV-th centuries, “Donishnomai Kadarkhon” dictionary by al-Faruki, “Lughati Furs” by Asadi Tusi, “Sikhokh-al-Furs” by Nahchuvani, elements of dictionary structure, preface to the dictionary, “Dastur-ul-Afozil” dictionary by Hairat Dahlavi

The article presents an analysis of certain structural elements of the interpretation dictionary “Donishnomai Kadarkhon” by al-Faruki in correlation with other five dictionaries (“Lughati Furs” by Asadi Tusi, “Sikhokh-al-Furs” by Nahchuvani, “Madjmuat-al-Furs” by Safi Kahhola, “Meyori Djamali” by Fahr Isfahoni, “Dastur-ul-Afozil” by Hairat Dahlavi) composed in the XI-th – the XIV-th centuries. The author describes four modes of composing the basic stock of words included into interpretation dictionaries which were formed before the creation of al-Faruki`s production. It is underscored that in “Donishnomai Kadarkhon” interpretation dictionary the author didn`t use the experience amassed by lexicographers in the early period of Persian-Tajik lexicography development. The given fact allows to come to the conclusion that al-Foruki wasn`t familiarized with other interpretation dictionaries written in the XI-th – the XIV-th centuries, except “Lughati Furs” by Asadi Tusi.
