VOCABULARY DENOTING THE NAMES OF HERBS AND FLOWERS IN "KHAMSA" BY NIZAMI GANJAVI

Avtors

Bobojanova D.A.

Abstract

The article studies the lexis denoting the names of herbs and flowers in "Khamsa", Nizami Ganjavi’s book of poems. It is noted that among the numerous names of herbs and flowers used in Nizami's poems, there are only three borrowings, the Arabic word "raikhon" (basil), the Greek "nargis" (narcissus), the Indo-Greek "karanful" (carnation). It is emphasized that most of the names of flowers are found in the poem "Leyli and Majnun", especially in the chapter "Leyli goes for a walk in the garden", which is due to the content of the work. Based on the semantic and structural analysis of the specified vocabulary, it is concluded that "Khamsa" mainly uses Tajik (Persian) names of flowers, which are widely used in modern Tajik (Persian) language.
