Abstract

Thearticleanalyzestheoriginofthewordchuri”, whichaccordingtoitsexternalfeaturesbelongstotheTurkiclanguage. Based on explanatory and translated dictionaries and scientific research, the antiquity of the word “churi” is proven, and the Indo-European roots of this lexical unit are revealed. It is noted that in the works of medieval writers, out of the five analyzed variants (yori/chori/choria/churi/chukhri), three variants were common: yori, chukri, choria. It is argued that this lexical element, which existed in the language even before the birth of Christ, has survived to this day, has evolved in form and meaning and is used in unique forms in most dialects of Tajikistan and Persian dialects of Iran.
