The article notes that the word-formation elements of the Tajik language play an important role in the formation of new words, in particular, the formation of new words using suffixes is widespread. It is emphasized that in the Tajik literary language there are many word-formation elements, especially polysemantic suffixes that form nouns. The word-formation potential of a number of suffixes also exhibits collective meaning. Based on reliable sources and rich linguistic material, an analysis of the historical development and word-formation potential of the suffixes -zor, -sor, and -lokh was conducted. It is concluded that the suffixes under consideration play different roles in the formation of collective nouns. The derivational suffix -lokh is less productive compared to the suffixes -zor and -sor, and in modern Tajik is used only in the formation of the collective nouns sanglokh and reglokh.
