This article examines the correspondence between the frequently used verbs "understand" in English and "fahmidan" in Tajik, which allow us to better understand the use and expression of the concept of understanding in different language systems. Understanding verbs are associated with the meanings of perception, interpretation and obtaining information. Understanding verbs can have different meanings. For example, "understand - fahmidan" means general understanding, and "grasp - fahmidan" - a deeper understanding. The analysis of these verbs can be classified both in terms of lexical-semantic structure and in terms of information structure. From the lexical-semantic point of view, words and texts can be connected by means of implicative relations. These types of understanding can be combined into two groups: identifying understanding and pragmatic understanding.
