Abstract

The author dwells on the problem of preservation of rare forms of a certain group of words pertaining to nominal parts of speech and verb. Proceeding from the rich factological material registered in mediaeval and today’s dictionaries, he comes to the conclusion that the group of ancient lexical elements is almost not used in Modern Tajik, or it retained in a composition of derivatives, compound words and word-forms; in spite of being excluded from the basic lexical stock of Modern Literary Tajik Language this group reserved the old form, sometimes the latter occurs in present vernaculars which distorted it. A part of ancient words having three thousand years history served as a material for forming nouns.
